I've got an OS X box here as well, I just configured it to use the username/password for the user, and it works like a charm. Relaying is perfect.

Yah, it works with other services I know of... just not the courier I got running.

The login for imap/pop is identical to the login for esmtp.

Thats what I figured, but it doesn't seem to work :(

I use the authmysql strictly in the authdaemond setup... and esmtp is already configured to use authdaemond as its source of authorizations. I cannot find any other settings that will make this work like it should be (as you pointed out in a previous mail, that turning on certain config options actually shuts down smtp for incoming from outside mail servers, which is REALLy bad).

I have all the services running. I don't have any oddball settings for allowsmtp or other .dat files. And the authmysql implementation is fairly by the book, with a few additions to the tables themselves for internal management applications I wrote, but that shouldnt affect courier in the least.

Flat out of ideas. Courier obviously listens, and the esmtpd services is responding, otherwise it wouldn't write those log entries to maillog.
