I don't want to completely disable Sketchup from making an Internet connection, only to somehow stop Sketchup from attempting to make a connection without it being initiated by me, the user.

By the way, what type of Internet transaction is Sketchup attempting to perform when it starts?

Ken,

In Win XP internet connection can be set at the windows firewall panel. There you can set the SU Application NOT to be able to make an internet connection.

I don't know how this is in Vista but there must be something similar...

How does one turn-off Sketchup's background Internet communications?

Each time I invoke Sketchup, it attempts to form an Internet connection. (Generally, I don't like programs forming Internet connections unless I direct them to form a connection.)

Since I'm still in the dark ages, using a dial-up connection, it's a pain in the posterior having Sketchup continually causing my Internet client (AOL) to start running and nagging for a password. I close AOL, and up it pops again, because Sketchup is trying to do some type of Internet transaction in the background.

Again, how does one trun off this "feature"?- Hide quoted text -
