I'm running P4V 2003.2 on MacOSX. The server side is running locally and working fine. I've set up a user and client, they both work fine, and P4V is able to log in and display the depot. The problem is, though, that P4V is unable to list the client workspaces from the server.
I tell P4V to list the workspaces and it lists nothing for either my user or for everyone. When I tell it to add a workspace and give it the name of the one I created manually it tells me that it already exists and asks if I would like to edit it. I tried editing the workspace, making a minor change and saving, then browsing the workspaces again, but they still are not listed. Also, I manually removed the workspace (p4 client -d..) and re-added it using P4V but it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
I believe this happens because p4v filters the workspaces based on the host field. If the field is present/not empty and doesn't match the current hostname, then p4v doesn't display it as being usable for that computer.
Try creating a new workspace in p4v and comparing the name for the host generated by p4v with the name generated by p4.
I had to fiddle with the Computer Name in System Preferences/Sharing to make it more palatable to both apps.
I've also got a bug-report in to Perforce to either get p4, p4v and the CW Perforce plugin to use the same host name, or permit me to enter a host name manually for each one to make it work better with OS X [and yes, I know I change the host name used by p4].
