Miguel

The other program is the one I want to distribute.

I've packaged mysql and the other stuff needed in an Installshield setup... I really don't understand why mysql doesn't work (if you just copy the directory mysql, and put a my.ini in c:\windows directory, it should work ....).

The other modifications I've done to the system are adding a line to system.init ( [NonWindowApp] CommandEnvSize=3072 ), and add a few keys in the registry.... but it shoudn't disturb mysqld !

I found a guy that had the same problem than me, he told me that the a task that check the consistency of the registry every monthes in windows creates on his computer the same problem than on mine. The only solution he found was to reinstall windows.

I really don't know how to track the real origin of this problem. I think the only way is to check what's going on in mysqld exactly 300 seconds after launching it, since the problem appears always at this moment (even if I change the values of the variables delayed_insert_timeout (which is set to 300 by default) or net_read_timeout ( 30 ) and net_retry_count ( 10) .... but I've never looked inside mysql source code.

I've joined mysqld.trace file, with a few comments at the moment the problem appears....

Is it possible to know what mysql installation program does exactly ? Does it store key in the registry database ?

The install program only does some registries for the Install Shield for future un-install using the control panel. In practice you can run MySQL on Win32 without any registry, the only program that needs the registry is MyODBC.

It seems I have an interference with another program installed on my computer and suppose it comes from an error in the registry. When I install mysql first, it runs correctly. But when I install the other program,

What other program ?

it creates a strange error 5 minutes (exactly) after having launched mysqld ( the datadir changes to c:\ )... and then, there is no way to get mysqld running correctly, even by reinstalling it....

Do you are using my.ini file and if yes what is its contents ?

Did you have a default install of Windows ? and MysQL ?
