Hello everyone,

First , I'd like to thank all of you who have been helping me get MySQL, Apache, Perl and PHP3 configured correctly on my Windows 98/Internet Explorer 5.01 machine. In addition to the personal email help I've received, I've also benefited from simply reading the posts on this list. Thank you all for continuing to contribute your suggestions and ideas.

All of the programs seem to work OK--I've run some sample test scripts and things seem more or less OK, EXCEPT:

IE 5.01 requires me to be logged onto my ISP in order to access my LOCALHOST stuff. Is there a setting in Apache that I've neglected? I brought up LOCALHOST using Mosaic 3.0 and it does not require the ISP connection in order to function. So, now I'm thinking this has to do with the security features in the modern browsers and that Netscape would probably behave the same as IE 5.01.

I must admit that I've ignored the passwords, user id and privilege settings since I just want to get things working locally for now. I am the only user on my standalone machine, so I'd rather not deal with privileges and protections until necessary. Eventually, we may incorporate the dynamic data into our web site, but for now, maintaining the database locally is adequate. Also, after I get the database interface forms all working, I'll want to pass this task onto another individual, so keeping it simple would be good.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
