Nice, but as usually, foreings languages lacks simultaneous launching, and this time associated with it some errors and confusion to the users. As you say here this new version has new plugin creation options, but only in the version 2 no beta english, recently launched version 2 beta of the international versions lacks these new features, but the plugin installer doesn't detect the needed version of GDS so for example I install the new Calendar plugin on my spanish GSD v.2 beta and it only can say that the plug-in cannot be started doe to this message: "The application or DLL <Google Desktop Search homepath>\Pluging\Calendar\plugin.js is not a valid Windows image" That isn't very specific about the real problem (the plugin is not compatible with this version of GDS).
I think google wants to compete with microsoft in most areas every day, but the first thing you should do is to be more international since the first day, perhaps the services associated to the app can't be localized since day one, but language translation of your software since launching (or simultaneous launching of international versions) isn't so hard to do. The services can come later but the app should be there since day one.
Another problem related to this incoherence betwen your own services is that now Google ig or personalized home is international, I can now check for my local weather there, but not in GDS (neither the spanish version nor the english one). And not GDS but ig related also, if I check the weather for my city en google.es/ig i see it in metrics units (ºC), but if I see the same personalized home in google.com/ig then the weather is shown in english units (ºF). I think this is also incoherent, you should give the user the posibility to choose this kind of things.
Anyway returning to the origin, the new version has created a full bunch of problems related to the plugins, as you will see here in the forums and there by mail for sure. At least the new plugins installer should check for the correct GDS version needed for them to run correctly.
