Hi,

I had installed the Windows shareware version of MySQL at my brother's PC and it ran without problems. Then I set it up in my computer just the same way, and the server has this slow response when it comes to opening a connection. The wait gets to about 40 seconds, which times out my scripts which access the DB. My computer and my brother's are both Win98, but I got the same issue in a Win95. My brother's is the only one of the three which is not connected to a LAN -- I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
