Hi Lachlan!
You can enable that setting by clicking that tiny "notepad" icon on the
left. After that you can change the value.
Greyed items aren't written to ini-file so MySQL uses default values for
those settings. That's why there has to be an option to enable or
disable setting.
I think that option to disable or enable setting is not so obvious and
it causes lots of trouble to beginners.

I am trying to play with the MyIsam sort buffer size via the Administrator
however all these options are greyed out (as are many other options
throughout the administrator). I am logging on to the sever with root
access on a stand alone workstation.
Can anyone tell me why this is and how to use these options from within
administrator.
