A few corrections below. :)

Rex,

Appreciate your thoughts. From the CAM perspective - I definately see that the XML template is the lightweight approach to facilitating integration.

Microsoft see this too with the impressive work on XACL and then the W3C work on pipelines for XML content processing too.

I believe you meant "XAML" not "XACL".

Everything is going to declarative XML scripting as the fundamental approach.

The trick is as you note - being able to bring all this together in a coherent and consistent way around a clear architecture and roadmap.

The BCM work offers the business perspective to help coordinate the technology parts.

The upcoming ebSOA work is going to be challenged in this department too - making sense of all the desperate pieces and delivering on the vision!

I believe you meant "disparate" not "desparate" (or did you not?;)

Joe

Thanks, DW

Hi Folks,

Even though I don't particpate in this group, I do keep track of it, hence my inclusion of it as well as bcm and cam, in my own effort to drum up an overarching multiple approach to the theme of Solution to Syntax. So I will keep an eye on this and suggest that showing alternate means for managing content than the heavyweight WSRP mechanism would be delightful.

As the grunt who just slogged through the second pass at the Markup Interface Section of the Primer for WSRP, I am becoming intimately familiar with how important the regrep is and the work being done on the tech notes for ebXML and UDDI, but for single webapps or smaller scale collaborations that don't entail managing a large enterprise IT portal, having reliable and secure means to share portlet-like objects without all that overhead is guaranteed to be a winner for the lower tier of businesses. It's not going to be unmanageable for us small fry for a while, but it will, it will. (I'm already feeling guilty about the extent to which it is going to require integrated tools and platforms.) And we thought we were the lighter weight alternative to CORBA.

Sheesh! Rex

This deadline is May 7. Lets discuss abstract ideas on this thread.

Here are some ideas we been considering recently in various forums:

-Semantic Content Management Using ebXML Registry (present work of the SCM SC, Carl Mattocks, Farrukh, ....) Carl, please confirm if you can take ownership of this?

-Vocabulary Management Using ebXML Registry (present the work of the UK egov pilot, Paul Spencer, Farrukh, Duane, ....) Duane, please confirm if you can take ownership of this per our discussions at Amsterdam?

Any other ideas?

Thanks.
