All mailers bounce mail.

SMTP is designed to bounce mail, and, in fact, there are some specific procedures and protocols that deal with that process.

Too many people here have heard the 'be lenient in what you accept, and strict in what you send' thing for me to convince them that some things just aren't acceptable (since other mailers accept them - the usual recursive argument).

Yes, and certain other mailers reject all bounces. Courier accepts bounces no more or less than any other message. That argument doesn't go anywhere.
