The liberal ideas expressed by Stefano, Sam and to some extent Costin are very inspiring and definitely please a wider audience than Duncan's ideas defending the actions of a selfish pig as he puts hit. (No, I don't think that Duncan is a selfish pig and you shouldn't either.)

Actually, "arrogant pig". :)

-snip from the email- "So, what do you think? Am I being an arrogant pig? Or do these rights matter to Apache developers? If these rights don't matter, should I just ask for the copyright to AntEater back so that I can go fork the code and do it elsewhere as a castway from the ASF?" -snip-

I've seen clear answers to these questions come from some quarters, but not necessarily from the board/pmc/existing power structure. Any discussion of the "Apache Way" should make it clear how this works.

BTW, I didn't see a link for the RfR document anywhere, so here's my real contribution to the discussion:

http://www.x180.net/rules.html

Do with it what you will. I'll be happy if it ended up posted up on apache.org or otherwise included or disowned at some point so that I don't have to worry about keeping it around in an accessible location. Enjoy.
