Firstly, you didn't say what actually went wrong from the client perspective. What did the MUA say?

The MUA said nothing, there was just no response at all

Secondly, and this is just a shot in the dark, courier-imap looks in ~/Maildir by default (NOT ~/.Maildir)). Are you delivering to this mailbox? And indeed, does the user *have* such a mailbox?

Sorry, but I am not sure what you mean, the Maildir is as Qmailadmin sets it up

and it works fine with Vpopmail. I have not made any manual changes to the directory format, so it is either one

of the following: 1. Qmailadmin set it up that way 2. SMTP altered the format when it accessed the directory 3. Courier-Imap altered it when trying to access the directory, (if it tried at

all) 4. An unknown process changed the format 5. None of the above

(If someone's figured out where to change the location where courier looks for the mailbox, I'd be interested in knowing that btw.)

Perhaps you or someone else could tell me how and where courier-imap looks for things like location etc.

Thanks in advance Regards Roger
