Why isnt SLCR enabled by default if the image supports it and the VIPS support it?

because when it was first put in someone wanted a switch to be able to disable it and therefore it's a new CLI addition and it was put in originally as off by default.

Once that path is started it's almost impossible to reverse without someone complaining.

IMO it should have been an internal change without a CLI to toggle and it been done everywhere.

If I can find the time I'll check and see if it is on by default anywhere and maybe start the process to do it.
