Hi, I installed courier (imap, sendmail, esmtp) on redhat 7.1. When I send from localhost to localhost it is fine, but when I try so send from somewhere else on the internet to the actual ip address of the machine, I get the error that smtp connection could not be establish (4.4.1). Also, when I tried to telnet to smtp port, the connection was refused.

This is a RedHat FAQ. Sendmail on RH only listens to 127.0.0.1 by default. Look at the RH documentation for details on how to open your sendmail to accept email from the internet.
