Hi..

I am a newbie to netflow, was reading the CCO netflow documentation on 7600 and have a few points which i dun quite understand: We are using Sup 720 MSFC3/PFC3 and exporting the flow statistic to NFC for usage billing purpose.

(1) the document says that, "Netflow cache on the MSFC captures statistics for flows routed in software". It also says that "Netflow cache on the PFC captures statistics for flows routed in hardware". At the same time, it says NDE on PFC supports NDE version 5 & 7. Netflow aggregation user version 8. Netflow aggregation is configured automatically on the PFC and DFCs when u configure Netflow aggregation on the MSFC.

Question: If NDE on PFC only supports version 5 and 7, how is it able to support netflow aggregation which requires NDE version 8 ?

(2) Can someone explain the concept/logic of sampled netflow? If i use sampled netflow, are the statistics collected still accurate/acceptable?

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks CEW
