I have installed courier and have been running it successfully for a week or so. Last Tueday (6th) I sent an email message to supp...@surething.com. This message was delayed because of network problems with my ISP. On the 7th I got an email message from 'Courier mail server' notifying me that this message was delayed. Part of the message said:

<supp...@surething.com>: mail.surething.com [209.116.59.99]: <<< Connection timed out

That's all great, except.. Since last Tuesday courier seems to have been periodically trying to send this message. In /var/log/maillog I see every few hours it tries again but then re-logs the 'connection timed out' error. However, the original connectivity was only for a few hours. I know that I can contact mail.surething.com now. To prove this, I just sent another message to some...@surething.com and courier sent it immediately. However, the original message remains in the mail queue. mailq lists it, and courier will apparently keep retrying forever. Any ideas? Below is the latest extract for maillog regarding this message:
