I am attempting to install FreeBSD on a Compaq Proliant 5000 equipped with four Pentium Pro processors clocked at 200 mHz. Windows Server 2000 supports the multiple processor configuration. I would prefer to use open source software. Does any version of FreeBSD support an array of four processors? If this question has been asked many times before, it is fine to merely point me to location at which the answer is posted. Many thanks.
We have supported SMP for >5 years. Of course a $300 wal-mart special will run circles around your quad PPro and consume a fraction the power.
I should shortly have a four processor Compaq 6500R machine. From the number and the specs, it sounds as if it could be related. If you're having specific problems with your machine, please let me know.
