Yes, I think it is different. The best way would be to read the blog entries sequentially and watch youtube presentations about structure and intents. I have no inside knowledge about what is in or when the next SDK will be released beyond passing comments when people report bugs in the existing release. I hope to get you fluent in Android as quickly as possible and provide a draft response that skilled people can correct and adjust.

Thanks for answering so quickly.
Can you define "Coming soon" please? As in expected in the next version of the SDK or maybe only after the first phone is released? (which I think it'll be in mid 2009).
At 8. I meant that I needed to find out the phone's serial number, the calling number, etc.
Android has most of the ingredients to do what you want to do, but the ways of doing them may be different than what you are used to.
And in what way different ? Do you mean a different programming paradigm ?

You deserve a better answer than the one I will give you, but here is a list where d means documented, c means coming soon based on inference from the intent model mostly, u means undocumented workaround. I'm a bit fuzzy on vocabulary and memory... and this response requires both:
1d?, 2c, 3c equivalent function, 4duc, 5c, 6 possible but not turnkey in the sdk, 7 demonstrated at I/O, 8 likely d but i don't know what these words mean, 9 see linkify on the blog, 10 unknown, 11d can be managed, 12d, 13 ?, 14 there is autofill.
