One small correction:

If you specify a port number only, the server will look at that port regardless of the IP address of the network card. If you specify an IP address + port number, it will only look at the port number with that IP address.

I(?)'m confused... as I understood it, the original question was about which IP to get the license for... nor which IP to start the server listening on. My answer was "it doesn't matter". Am I missing something here? Can the *license* "IPaddress:" field include a port number?

Hi all, We're just about to setup a new perforce installation here, and acquire the licenses. However, our server has two IP addresses, for for access to the WAN and one for local/internet use. Any idea which IP address we should use to get the licenses to work over the LAN/WAN/Internet ?

My experience is that that the server is smart enough to work properly using any of the IP addresses. That is, if you give it the IP address of any one of the interfaces, it will accept connections on all of them. (And this is what Perforce told me to expect).
