The AdWords API Forum has been going strong since 2005. Over the years, it's grown into a resourceful community where you can find answers to your AdWords API questions, meet other developers and users, and help each other get the most out of the AdWords API. As the number of API users continues to grow each day, we thought it was important to provide insight into what the purpose of the API Forum is and what you can expect to get out of being a part of this community.
The AdWords API Forum is intended to be the go-to place to get help from other API users; however, from time to time, a Google representative, nicknamed AdWordsAPIAdvisor, may jump in to provide you with notices regarding new releases and system maintenance.
Below are some helpful guidelines and tips for getting the most out of this community:
Discussion Etiquette:
1. Keep it clean and appropriate. The AdWords API Forum will be used by folks of all ages and backgrounds, so please do your part to encourage appropriate language and discussion.
2. Keep it safe. Remember, your posts may be widely read, so do not post personal information such as your developer token, AdWords account login information, mailing address, phone number, or credit card numbers - a Google representative will never ask you to post this information in the forum.
3. Keep it on topic. The goal of the AdWords API Forum is to create a community of API developers that can assist each other with the AdWords API. Therefore, please make sure your questions are related to the AdWords API and, more specifically, are related to the topic of each thread. Posts that are unrelated may be removed from the forum altogether.
4. Be kind to newbies. Many new or prospective AdWords API users may come to this Group for advice. Please be patient, courteous, and encouraging with all users seeking assistance, especially those who are new. It can be tough to be a beginner!
Tips:
1. Before you post a new question, please search or browse for the answer in the forum's archive and in the AdWords API Help Center at http://www.google.com/support/adwordsapi/.
2. We think signatures are counter-productive when posting to Groups, as they can become repetitive and make the thread hard to read. If you must use a signature, please keep it short and sweet - and avoid using it as a means of promoting yourself, or your services.
3. Please keep the quoting of previous posts to a minimum. Wading through multiple copies of the same post within a thread has been known to strain many a nerve.
A Few Last Words:
1. Please be certain to read the Google Groups Beta Terms of Service,
available at
http://groups.google.com/intl/en/googlegroups/terms_of_service.html,
as these are the guidelines under which the AdWords API Forum will
run.
2. We believe that this diverse group of people with a strong common interest will naturally build a safe and productive community, without the need for formal moderation. However, should you see a post in the forum which you feel is counter to the health of your community, please be aware of how you may take action, as outlined on this page: http://groups.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=46452. We'll also do our part to remove any posts that are not directly related to receiving help using the AdWords API.
3. All in all, please enjoy yourself, build a strong community, get your AdWords API questions answered, and be helpful to each other. We hope this Group will help you get the most out of the AdWords API!
