I should tell you one important thing that about 200 Japanese have been using this patch and there aren't any problem reported yet.

All you need at this stage is to find one committer who understand multibyte/asian stuff enough (it is not me) and can integrate this patches into kernel module. I personally don't think it belongs to port, but, rather KLD module, especially if it covers most of Unicode.

I agree with Andrey, this patch is something that FreeBSD really needs.
