Messages to invalid addresses are accepted, but they aren't bounced immediately. I tried sending a couple messages on the day before yesterday and they are still in the queue. Here's what is being written to the log as this message is being processed. I sent a message from dav@falcon.digeo.com to the nonexistent fo@falcon.digeo.com: Sep 19 10:58:29 falcon courierd: [ID 702911 mail.info] started,id=0003F2DA.3BA7D 6B3.000003DC,from=<dav@falcon.digeo.com>,module=local,host=alias!foo@ fa lcon.d igeo.com!103!12!/usr/lib/courier/etc/aliasdir!!,addr=<alias> Sep 19 10:58:29 falcon courierd: [ID 702911 mail.info] Waiting. shutdown time=n one, wakeup time=Wed Sep 19 12:03:34 2001, queuedelivering=2, inprogress=1 Sep 19 10:58:29 falcon courierd: [ID 702911 mail.info] completed,id=0003F2DA.3BA 7D6B3.000003DC Sep 19 10:58:29 falcon courierd: [ID 702911 mail.info] started,id=0003F2DA.3BA7D 6B3.000003DC,from=<>,module=dsn,host=deferred,addr=<davidb@falcon.digeo. co m>

Is 'falcon.digeo.com' defines as a local domain for this machine?

It is in the "hosteddomains" file. The makehosteddomains man page implies that it should not be listed in the "locals" file because I want authentication for this domain to be done with the domain name included.

And what happens when you send a separate test message to this exact address?
