I'll give that request a +1 as well.
You may be able to do this by programmatic preference setting but certainly not as elegant as the native preference settings.

As we are at Christmas Eve, this might be a good time to ask again.
Santa Google might be more sensitive to wish lists? :-)
I noticed that I have never added this to the feature request page (my bad). I am doing this now, and I am adding your name as well as a requester.

I would like to be able to create a User Pref with List Data Type; however, I would like the users not enter their selection in a text box but select from an drop down box instead. For example, instead of having a input text box and and add button on the edit gadget screen, I would like to display a pre-populated drop-down box and a add button so that users can select items from the menu and add them to the list (as in the list Data Type functionality) one by one.
Any ideas how this can be done. I have seen this on Google's official Weather Gadget (i.e., users can select international cities from a drop down box and add them to the list individually) but the source code for that gadget is not available
