This appears to be related to the bug I pointed out a few days ago. Mine was in the SFO area, too--I think it was Concord to SFO that I tested (it worked under Google Transit but not from Google Maps). Maybe it's just localized to the Bay Area (and even BART specifically)--the only other place I tested accessing transit routes from Google Maps was Seattle, and that worked. I have not had a chance to mess with other areas.
