Things are definitely looking up, my gadgets are now loading 4 out of 5 times, with two exceptions, one good and one bad, bejeweled, which seems to be loading every time http://www.google.com/ig/directory?url=http://bejeweledg.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/bejeweled.xml and Google translation http://www.google.com/ig/directory?url=http://translateg.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/translateg.xml which seems to be loading about 2/5 times.

My gadgets have started to load more frequently. Some load more often than others. I'd say that if I refresh the page 5 times, with all of my gadgets on at the same time, I'd say the more frequently loading ones load 2 out of 5 times. The less frequently loading ones load somewhere around 1 times out of 10.

A performance update was applied to the subversion server over the weekend, which we hoped would help. However, it looks like the problem still persists.

Please continue to post periodic updates regarding your gadgets hosted on Google Code. Your feedback has been of great help so far in monitoring this problem, and we appreciate your patience as we figure this out.

Thanks!

Dann

Not much change with most of my gadgets, but during yesterday, Sunday 18th, I saw two of my gadgets working intermittently, Bejeweled and Google translation.

I have never seen my gadgets load since the problem started. They only load when on websites, such as my page herehttp://www.wisgary.com/gadgets/ but I have never seen them load on my personalized homepage as of yet.

Just wanted to give a quick status update and let you know that we're actively looking into this problem right now.

Has there been any changes in behavior, and how often does the gadget fail to load? More or less than 50% of the time?

Thanks, Dann

Hey everyone,

Fortunately, we tracked down what was causing this problem. We discovered that a Subversion client was sending repeated requests for a large file from one of the hosted projects. Somehow, this created a ripple effect that was causing problems for other projects as well. As a result, gadgets hosted on GoogleCodewere failing to respond at random moments. Yesterday we disabled the problematic project which helped clear up the data flood that was occurring. GoogleCodeshould be serving your gadget files promptly now.

If you haven't done so already, please retest your gadgets that are hosted on googlecode.com and confirm that they are loading correctly again.

Adam, one reason why you and possibly others may still be seeing the problem on occasion may be because you're hitting one of our caching servers that's still holding a bad response from yesterday's outage. It generally takes a few days for the cache to refresh itself, hopefully with a successful response from GoogleCode.

Here's an experiment. Try disabling the cache on the GG4YP creator page by adding "&nocache=1" to the URL. For
example:http://gmodules.com/ig/creator?url=http://colorchoosergadget.googleco...

See if that works.

Thanks!

Dann

My fish gadget has been unusable at times today too, so I am temporarily pointing users to a copy I have on google pages.

Hey everyone,

So all day yesterday, I've been able to consistently reproduce this problem with my own test gadget that I uploaded to GoogleCode Hosting:http://daniel-feedback-gadgets.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/test_codehost...

However, today I'm having a real difficult time reproducing the same problem. The gadget loads successfully pretty much 100% of the time. I've also tested a few other gadgets posted on this thread, and they all work as well. Now it'd be naive to think that this problem is solved since I'm not aware that any changes were made, but I wanted give you all the heads up that things seem to be back up and running. In the meantime, I'm going to continue investigating what caused this and hopefully prevent it from happening again.

Can everybody please test their gadgets again and report back the results? I need to know if people are still seeing this.

Thanks!

Dann

Hey everyone,

This is all very strange and difficult to track down. Sorry if you're experiencing problems with this, and unfortunately I don't have an explanation yet as to what's causing these intermittent failures. We're trying to track this down, and I'll post an update once we find a solution.

As Bonstio pointed out, it may be relevant to duplicate yourhosting- related questions and problems in the GoogleCodegroup. It's possible they might provide some answers as well.

Sorry!

something is weird-- I just tried them and they worked for me, and an initial investigation didn't turn up anything either.

HI,

Since yesterday I am having problems with my modules that are hosted in googlecode.

All my modules hosted there are been shown in my personalized home page as "Information is temporarily unavailable." and if I try to install a new instance of it a "module not found" message is shown. However, if I try to access the xml file directly (using the same link that I pass to the developer module) I am able to access the file.

Is it a problem with my module or with googlecode? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks,

Rafael
