Hi there.
U dont have 2 use my.cnf as your default MySQL configuration file. U could use my.ini, too (even on NT machines) ! This file, is usually created by winmysqladmin by the 1st time U run it. Place that file in c:\winnt directory.
Normally, MySQLd would 1st read the config. file from c:\windows\my.ini -- or c:\winnt\my.ini -- if none found, it'll go down to c:\my.cnf (hey -- 'got these on documentations....)
To know what parameters, options, or variables you would want to set -- try to run mysqld as : mysqld --help
