Hi,

I'm trying to setup mysql on a windows 2000 pro machine. I've successfully manage to setup apache+php4. Downloaded and installed the mysql 3.23.32 in the default directory of c:\mysql . Started the winmysqladmin, setup the my.ini with correct paths , username, password . Then tried to start the server. It tries to start the daemon named mysqld-nt.exe and fails. The exact message that appears is "Fails to start the service. Please try again in 30 seconds. Then I tried to start the service from the services administrative tool. However, that gives the error of "Error 5. Access is denied". I've also tried to install the service from command prompt and then start it using the " net start mysql" service and get the same Error 5, Access Denied message.

Can anyone tell me whats wrong here? I've tried to do everything as told in the install.txt . Then also tried to search the mailing list archive but there was none about this error 5.

Any help will be appreciated.
