We have recently updated our library in FreeSWITCH to support the latest
google dialect and the 16k speex codec. That means you can use gtalk and
FreeSWITCH for 16k conferences and even IM Chat with an IVR hosted on
FreeSWITCH. Check it out at www.freeswitch.org.

I m not sure that gtalk is sending encrypted messages, may b gtalk is
using diff
protocol or diff messages format But when messages are send to the
users in
goowy messenger, u can see these messages in ethreal sotware.
