Has anyone had any experience with the Perl CPAN module Mail::SendMail sending email via Courier?

I've downloaded and installed Scoop (http://scoop.kuro5hin.org/) recently. Scoop is written in Perl and relies on a lot of modules from a Perl module archive called CPAN. One of those is called Mail::SendMail and is used to send email directly to a relaying SMTP server. Scoop uses this in the new account process.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I get "courieresmtpd: writev: Broken pipe" in my maillog when it tries to send.

Please note: I'm not a Perl programmer, nor am I familiar with CPAN. I just need Scoop working. If there's some simple config switch to alter to make this work, or a small change in the SendMail.pm file that someone knows about, that's all I need. Thanks!
