I should have pasted that in on my initial posting, my bad. I thought I should also mention that I have tried to use both versions 4.0.7 and the latest beta, with courier-authlib-0.50.20041113 both revealing the same issues.

However - the above still gives no hint as to it failing to decide to compile authmysql. Can you direct me to other places I should look?

Pass an explicit --with-authmysql option to the configure script.

I have - this is in the original four page configure options that I pasted into my first eMail :) I specifically told configure to turn authmysql on, and have all of the other auth options turned off.

While playing around yesterday on the snapshot of authlib I decided to try and get authcustom to build, as a test, adding '--with-authcustom' to it's configure script. authcustom was not, however, built.
