most likely it uses a stripped down version of common open source programs with just configuration settings. if that's the case, there's nothing for them to release to the public domain.

Recently I was told that 2wire dsl gateways http://www.2wire.com use a variant of rt FreeBSD.
If this is true are they required to make the source code available to the public? And if so how does one go about getting the GPL source
