I finally had some success with libjingle and was able to use the call example to establish calls with other google talk users.

I have made a lot of changes including support for latest ortp, support for latest mediastreamer2 etc. My svn repository can be downloaded:

svn checkout http://unshackle.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ unshackle

Please test it out and report problems and fixes to me.
