I've checked the Custom Setup once again - double-clicking the packages also does not change anything - those which were selected (checked) remain selected, those not selected remain unselected.

I feel something may be fixed here... :)

This is normal; You can't change any attributes in the custom install. You can only decide which packages you want to install; Just double click on the package you want to include/exclude.
