Openfire comes with dual licencing:
- There is a basic, though very complete, version which is released
under GPL. This means that you can use it for any purpose, commercial
usage too, with the only restriction of distributing the source of
Openfire and the source of all your statically linked extensions
together with the application. If you just provide a service (e.g.
you own the server) there are no restrictions at all.
- There is commercial license, with enterprise add-ons, for which you
