I'm using a Perl version which was compiled on my own machine. The MySQL is coming from a binary distribution as it's much faster ( at least the documentation is said that ) in a pre-compiled version. The other packages was also compiled from the sources on my machine.

Are you using precompiled binaries at all? If so, I suggest you are rolling your own versions of Perl, MySQL, DBI and DBD::mysql.
