Subject:[c-nsp] 2811 router doesn't recognize T-1 WICs?Actions...

Hi buddy,

Based on my limited expertise , just trying to help....

"The Cisco 2800 supports more than 90 modules, including most of the existing WICs, VICs, network modules, and AIMs (Note: the Cisco 2801 router does not support network modules)" --- there should be no problem at the first place , but its there....

WIC Slot 0 only support VWICs. Put it in slot W1, W2, or W3.

-----"4 slots, each slot can support HWIC, WIC, VIC, or VWIC type modules"

Minimum Cisco IOS Software release 12.3(8)T

---- u have already tested higher version

this link says a lot in here http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5854/products_data_sheet0900aecd8016fa68.html

Can u tell me the details for the module that you have ? are u using the normal 4 slot module in here.. ? what was the original image u got on this ?

regards raj

I don't think the 2811 router has a limitation regarding WIC slots you can use, as far as I know only the 2801 router has this limitation.

Kind regards,

Koen.

Do you need a certain IOS feature set for them?

You shouldn't. They're the standard T-1 WIC cards with built-in CSU/DSU. The DPRG configurator showed them as supported with base IP IOS. I'm running 12.3(11)T2 which is the latest.

CCO docs are somewhat sparse with regard to 28xx series router info but no caveats I can see in the IOS release notes. The limitation of slot0 to VWICs only was one I must have missed, though. Just wondering if there's another magic command to somehow enable the WIC.

I have a TAC case open on this now, will post results.
