It would be useful to have a method for inserting items into an item feed with a special "test" attribute. This attribute would cause normal validations on that item to occur without actually publishing or making the item searchable. This might be similiar to items which are still in a "draft" state when they are entered directly from the Google Base item editor. This would be extremely useful during the developement of a GoogleBaseAPI application.

Perhaps this ability already exists and I am failing to find the documentation.
