|This procedure worked fine! I now have FreeBSD-3.1-RELEASE installed
|on an alpha machine (433au). I am now working on getting a working
|network interface so I can install a WWW proxy cache based on Apache
|(to replace a similar service currently running on a Solaris box on my
|desktop which is about to be replaced by another FreeBSD machine ;-)

I am installing 3.1-RELEASE from ftp via URL ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/FreeBSD/releases/alpha/
as it is only 2 hops away from me.
it seems to install ok but one thing i would like to know is are there any packages for FreBSD/alpha or not ??????
