Thanks all for the replies. All work like a charm, much better than my own p4/cut/xargs/p4/grep shell command counting files in each depot, which I had worked out in the meantime. All work, except where p4 filelog is used it chokes and bails out on a missing change in one of the depots dated way back in 1998 (long before my time here) making a standard depot recovery impractical. But this is probably an altogether another topic which I'll address later if Perforce support doesn't come up with a workaround.
