Hi Mikael,

Thanks for your reply and clearing those things up. Am I to assume then that a TEXT(1000) field will occupy 2256 bytes?

Also TEXT fields are handled in a little bit special manner. They have a fixed overhead of 256 bytes in each record. If the TEXT field is bigger than 256 bytes then the rest is chopped up in 2000 byte large pieces and stored in a separate table with the same primary key as the original table.
