Hans,
The very next GUI tool we will release makes heavily use of Java and therefore we use Eclipse as editor for the Java files.
But still - our masterplan is to develop native applications on each platform (Windows, Linux, OS X) giving the users the look & feel they are used to.
We do this by having core C libraries that contain all the functionality and compile on every platform. The GUI itself is designed and written using native development tools like Delphi for Win32, GTK+ on Linux and X-Code/Cocoa on OS X.
This produces some development overhead and we don't have "write once, run everywhere" but it makes it possible to take care of the individual requirements and features of each platform.
But we believe in Eclipse to be a very powerful development environment and it should be no surprise to you if there might be future GUI tools from MySQL using this platform.

Is there any development of the MySQL GUI tools using Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org)? Would it be possible to develop any of the GUI tools using Eclipse?
Thank you,
