Hi,

I also had plans to make a improved version of the Calendar gadget, but gave it up since it is of type url: <Content type="url" href="http://www.google.com/calendar/ __ENV_google_apps_auth_path__gadget"/> When i look at the source for the page i find references like: <script type="text/javascript" src="f9976ed09708a8decde5b20426dc53caauthgadgetcompiled__sv.js"></ script> which I can't find, and probably couldn't read even if I found it.

Doesn't this mean that it is closed source?? I think it is a pity that Google keeps gadgets closed, we would get better gadgets if they where open to improvements. But perhaps I got everything wrong...

Hello,

I don't have an exact answer on this one, but my instinct suggests that while you can't legally copy the gadget's code (verbatim), you are free to use it and all of the gadget documentation, as an example, to write a similarly functioning gadget. If you're concerned with the similarity of your code to the original gadget's code, you should consult legal council to see if your bases are covered.

I hope this helps.

Best, Dan
