I just migrated from mbox folders with UW-IMAP server to maildir with
courier-imap. I'm using the latest version.
I had about 72,000 seperate emails in about 20-30 folders.
My INBOX has about 7000 messages. When I do a sort on (From/Subject/etc)
in Pine, I get the "IMAP server has closed connection" message. I thought
the server-side sorting would help. I haven't tried disabling it (is this
compile or runtime configurable?).
Besides deleting messages and having a sane amount of email, I'm looking
for tips on tuning courier-imap for large folders.
The machine (which is 100% dedicated as a email server), handles email for
our office of 6 people.
It is a K6 300Mhz with 288MB of ram. I'm running Red Hat 7.1, the
filesystem is ext2.
BTW, last night I took the "convertsubs.pl" script, and modified it to
preserve the original delivery date and time for the message. I also
modified it to calculate the size of each message and tag each email with
the size ",S=XXX" as part of the conversion. It worked fine for me.
Thanks,
Dax
