Yes, ES4 workers could be embedded in non-ES4 browsers.

I agree. Opaque handles with some minimal serialization story seems like an appropriate interlude, though. Are ES4 workers something that would come about only after ES4 browser support, or could ES4 workers be embedded in a non-ES4 browser?
