Does this mean they ought to be put back into libc? removed from libcompat as well? It's somewhat confusing, Solaris seems to have all this stuff available in the mainline libc, should we as well?

It's a choice of whether we want to adhere to standards or not. I am more in favor of doing so.

I think we are a good platform for serious developers to target and standards like SUSv2 come in handy on a lot of fronts.
