Thanks for the tip; it pointed me in the right direction.
Drive E was a local drive, but the NT "System" account didn't have any
authority on the drive. I reset the permissions on Drive E and now everything
works.

Probables causes:
The driver is mapped: the system account can't to be authenticate
against shared devices. Fix: change the system account by one valid
user account which can be authenticated using the CSM.
The driver was shared and the user that installed the service doesn't
have that privilege.
