Thanks I'll follow up with the Google Accounts Team.

BTW, I just did a quick search in Groups for "Google Authentication" and found many things, across all applications, but did not find a group specific to Google Authentication. Perhaps it would be a good idea to start one?

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the detailed response, your points are valid and make sense, but yes it would certainly be nice to be able to turn that off while developing :)

I think the frustration I feel with this issue, as mentioned in my original post, is a Google wide thing, but I will *try* to keep my comments/suggestions limited to the scope of this group.

Thanks again,

Jonny,

The original intent of the login for testing was to enable developers to experience exactly what the end user will see when they access the application. We feel that GME applications are a little different from Google built applications in that these applications were not created by Google Developers and therefore should be seen as a separate entity from Google. That is why end users need to explicitly log into each GME created application.

It's obvious that during testing some developers do not want to continue to log into applications each time and we are working on a solution to make that an option for developers. I'll send your feedback to our authentication team to help them understand some of the developer and user issues with Google Authentication.

Please continue to provide us with value feedback.

Thanks,

Paul

I think one of the major areas that Google needs to address is the lack of cohesiveness across services, and user authentication, and nowhere is this more evident than in the GME. Every time I want to 'test' my code it prompts me to login to my account, even though I am already logged in! This is the same issue that has cause my coding partner and I to abandon Apps for the time being :( I know that us developers are not the squeaky wheel that ad revenue is, but if Google can address these issues in a focused manner (ie put some serious money towards it), I think the potential is there for Google to almost 'be' the internet. Why? Because developers want nothing more than a centralized standards based 2.0 place where we can all build our ideas in unison...

Go Google go!
