What do the numbers 1-31 in your example represent? My first reaction was that Polish seems to have a different plural form depending on whether you have 21 beans or 22 beans :-)

Exactly! :D Polish mean of 'file' is 'plik'. Below table shows translation in better way:

Number: English: Polish: ======= ======== =======

1 file plik 2,3,4 files pliki 5-21 files pliko'w 22-24 files pliki 25-31 files pliko'w

This is very simple, isn't? ;)

Erm, if you say so :-) Doesn't explain what happens for n=0 or n<0. Or fractions (OK, maybe four and a half files is unlikely to occur, but you could have four and a half beans)

Must make life hell when you are working in octal or hex though :-)

"0x7D files deleted"

Brian.
