Between Maildrop 2.2 and 2.3 something changed in the way maildrop handles variables when in deliver mode.

I have looked through the included readme files, but I haven't seen much information about how it works, or how to revert to the old behaviour.

I am using maildrop with qmail/qmail-scanner v2.08, and v2.2 works perfectly.

To clarify: qmail-scanner uses the reformime application, which the maildrop source provides.

v2.3+ causes qmail-scanner to break with "Unknown character set: ANSI_X3.4-1968". Reverting to 2.2 causes the errors to go away.

What little i've found suggests this is due to the way the maildrop package now handles environment variables.

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=304093 is the only english reporting of this error.. perhaps other people with similar configs don't apply updates as regularly.

Anyhow, I would like to fix this, and would appreciate getting pointed in the right direction.

This is corrected in maildrop 2.4

Alternatively, add "import LANG" to .maildropfilter.
