Looks like a bug. Can you try to reinstall maildrop from sources, with at most "-O" optimization, no -O2, no -O3, no -Os? Which gcc version are you using? Try gcc --version and g++ --version and show us the output.

# gcc --version 2.95.3

g++ in the same version.

The version 1.4.x was installed from source, but I want to try it once more with the suggested option.
